PCTA Director District I

Remy Scott

This is my sixth year teaching and my fifth year with Pinellas County Schools. I am passionate about my students. Additionally, I come from a long line of union family members. My grandfather was a union organizer and sergeant at arms for a t-shirt factory in Macon, GA. I look forward to working with the Board.

Me-Me Panzarella

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I have been a proud Union member for all of my twenty-nine years as a teacher. In the past fifteen years I have witnessed relentless attacks on our profession and on public education. The more they attacked up, the more involved I became as a Union member. Currently, I serve as a faculty rep for my school and on the membership committee. Knowing that the Senate passed HB 7055, I decided I needed to do more to help m Union in the fight that is coming our way.

Our strength is in our numbers and in our solidarity. PCTA has strong leaders that fight on our behalf and I want to roll up my sleeves and do my part as well. I am asking for your vote so that as a member of the Executive Board, I can help PCTA, not only survive the attacks, but come out stronger than ever before.

PCTA Director District II

Pamela Morse

I am my building rep, on the GR committee, and have lobbied in Tallahassee the last several years. As such, I need to keep up with the thinking and planning of FEA!

Juliana Stolz

I sincerely thank the District II member for the opportunity to have represented you on the Executive board for the past six to eight months, filling the open position for the remainder of that term. I have been an educator for over twenty three years and have served on a variety of Executive Boards within my schools, but also at the district, the state and the national levels to impact our future in education. I currently sit on the bargaining team for the district. I continue to feel it is important to be the voice of all members at every level within the bargaining unit, not just mine. I am grateful for the opportunity you have given me so far and I look forward to continuing to represent you on the Executive Board.

PCTA Director District III

Thomas La Porta

I have a vision for our union, and want to remain part of its Executive Board. The pendulum of change has been a routine part of my forty-one years in teaching, PCTA has always been there to help us navigate the routines of change. Unfortunately, lately I have seen the pendulum become a wrecking ball; there is nothing routine about it. Public education and teachers are under relentless attack aimed at our destruction. Now, more than ever, we need our union, but our organization must be strong, we must be smart, we must be politically organized, and must be financially sound. Being stripped many of their traditional protections, we must serve our members better than ever. Facing stingy budgets, we must bargain smarter than ever. In face of those who would like to destroy us, we have to stand collectively. As a union. I would appreciate your vote.

PCTA Director District IV

Nicholas Amheiser

The adage, “if you don’t have a seat at the table, then you are probably on the menu.” Didn’t mean much to me until after the 2016 election when I decided that I could no longer afford to be passive in my desire to see positive change. I had to be willing to put in the work myself instead of relying on others. So, here I stand, willing and able to put the hard work necessary to attempt change at the county and school level by whatever means allowed to me. I hope to enable safer work environments for teachers who have been asked to add an ever-increasing amount of responsibilities to their already overfull plates. Teachers should be able to know and enforce their rights against assaults in schools.

PCTA Director District V

Sherrie Lee

I, Sherrie Lee, am seeking to be elected to serve as the PCTA Director for District 5, I fully understand the challenges that impact both students and educators. I have strived to serve their unique needs through various means. I have advocated for them through being an active member of PCTA for the past 2 years and have served as a PCTA Rep for the past fifteen years. In 2001, I spoke on their behalf while serving as Pinellas County’s District Teacher of the Year. I volunteer to serve on various committees and currently serve on the Districts’ Data Working Group. I am committed to holding the District accountable for providing learning and working conditions that support academic growth but more importantly the wellbeing of our students, families, and ALL who serve them. I believe together we can make a difference.

Thomas Lee Bryant

I, Lee Bryant would appreciate your consideration for my application as the PCTA Director District V. I have been a member of PCTA for 22years and have been the lead rep at Saint Petersburg High for the past fifteen years. I have relationships with local politicians including members of the State house, State Senate, and Pinellas County School Board. I have served on several PCTA committees over the years but have been reluctant to step into a leadership role because I strongly believe in being part of a team. My goal in my life is to make things better for the collective “we”. At Saint Petersburg High we strive for an inclusive team that includes all members of the support staff, administration, teachers, counselors and others working together to make our school better for the students and all of us. I ask for your support in bringing your voice forward. Yours, in service.

NEA Local Delegate - CTA

Rick Amstutz

I have completed three terms on the Executive Board and have attended three NEA conventions. I have been a union member for twenty-seven years. I would be proud to represent our local as part of the state delegation.

Janet Cunningham

In these times of ever changingchallenges, I feel it’s paramount that I offer to step forward and become engaged as a delegate. One who is willing to fight to reclaim the right to provide a high-quality public education without undue sanctions, and constraints in conditions conductive to staff and students.

Mary Gressle

I, as an annual contract employee feel that my presence at these meetings are important. I could learn information to help keep our local strong, and help those who are not yet a part of us understand why we are more strong together.

Kali Davis

It would be an honor to represent PCTA at the Representative Assembly ( FEA Delegate Assembly, NEA Representative Assembly). Bringing local issues forwards and national innovative ideas home will benefit out profession and our students. If elected, I will show up to ALL meetings and speak up. Then I will come back and share with you! Thanks!

Brad DeCorte

Please allow me the honor and privilege of representing PCTA at this year’s NEA Representative Assembly. I feel it is my responsibility to become as knowledgeable as possible about the issues facing us locally, state-wide and nationally, and to bring that information back to better serve the members of PCTA.

Rachel Lachuisa

I would love to attend the NEA Delegate Assembly this year because I am passionate about public education. After attending the past assembly in October as a delegate for PCTA, I began writing and emailing my local representatives. Attending this summer would build upon my opportunity to grow and advocate for my students!

Colleen Parker

Each year that I attend the NEA RA I grow as a member of PCTA. I bring the experience back to Pinellas County to improve our association.

Stephanie Potter

I would be honored to represent PCTA in Minneapolis at the NEA Conference. Being a part of PCTA has had an amazing impact on my life so far. PCTA gives me a platform to use my voice as a teacher in hopes of standing up for my students when they have very few standing up for them.

Brant Robinson

I am honored to serve my colleges and accept this responsivity with excitement and humility. Public education is the foundation of any democracy. Over ability and willingness to not only serve our students but defend our profession is vital to the stability and future of American society.

Carol Robinson

We are living in a time of crisis. Our unions that gave us the power to bargain for better working conditions are threatened with extinction. Our careers that we dedicated out lives to are labeled expendable. Greed threatens the education system that offered everyone a chance to rise. Let’s Fight!

Danielle Serano-Prusinski

As a new teacher, I find that it is imperative to become involved in the groups that represent us. I want to see new life breathed into a profession that is given so little respect or value, so that my peers and future generations may consider this wonderful career.

Susan Spaulding

As our Vice President, I believe it’s very important for me to attend events like the NEA Delegate Assembly. It is part of my job to implement the decisions made by the delegate body in our own local association. It is always an honor to represent PCTA at this gathering.

Barbara Wilmarth

It will be my honor to continue to serve as your delegate to the FEA Delegate Assembly. As one of the four NEA directors from Florida, I work continuously throughout the year to represent you. Please vote Barbara Wilmarth for PCTA delegate to the FEA DA. Thank you!

Christine York-Amstutz

As faculty rep chair, I am a member of the PCTA board of directors. I would appreciate the opportunity to represent you at the NEA convention. These conventions help me understand our issues from a national perspective and help me to make informed decisions here at home.

Joan Procida

I have been an active union member for over thirty years. During that time I have served in a variety of capacities. I have been a chapter leader for the UFT as well as a NYSUT delegate and representative to the AFT convention when I lived in NY I received several awards for my union activism while I was representing members at the grievance and arbitration level. Upon moving to Florida, I became a faculty representative, committee member, board member, and now I am the vice-chair of the FR Council. I was very excited to have attended the first FEA Convention, when the AFT and NEA merged in Florida I now had the best of both worlds. I have mentored National Board candidates and have done trainings for PCTA and PESPA. I would very much like to continue to serve you by attending the next FEA and NEA Conventions. I hope I have your support.

NEA Local Delegate - ESP

Nelly Henjes

As the PESPA President, I would like to attend the NEA RA 2018 Convention in Minneapolis, MN and AFT 2018 Convention in Pittsburg, PA representing Pinellas County Educational Support Professionals. While I would like to attend the NEA RA Delegate and AFT 2018 Convention, I would monitor the changes and update from NEA and AFT and align them with our local mission. Sharon Joe

I would be honored if you selected me to represent you at our NEA Assembly. I am on the Board of Directors for PESPA and the building rep at my school. Everyone should have a voice. Let me be that Voice! #BeThereforPublicEd

Shari Johnson

As a loyal employee and union representative for Pinellas County Schools for the past thirteen years, I am asking for your vote for me to attend the NEA RA as a delegate. This opportunity will allow me to have the chance to meet face – to – face with key education decision-makers who represent public education. I have a good idea of the concerns of my colleagues and would like to serve as an agent of change. I would take my roll seriously and I believethat as part of that role is to return with vital information to share with peers.

Jeanette Vega

Our world is changing with a speed that challenges our capacity to keep pace. I want to build a foundation stronger and broader than identity politics, we should look to the future rather than the past. Want to understand why workers “vote against their interests?” Ask them, and prepare to hear answers that challenge established assumptions. This is why I want to represent our union.

Jacquelyn Wilson

I, Jacquelyn Wilson, would like to be considered for the position of delegate for the National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, and Florida Education Association, I feel that issues that plague our educational system and country need to be addressed. I would like the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally with my colleagues. I feel I can represent PESPA and network with others in our state to implement strategies and goals that will impact changes that are both positive and beneficial for all.

Andrea Dort

As a member of PCTA since 1994 when I began my teaching career at 16th Street Middle School, I believe I have the experience to represent the district at the National Representative Conference in Minnesota this July. I have experienced at least three other conferences with NEA and have also representative I have been a Director on the Board and Chair for the Representative Council Meetings. I do not take lightly the amount of work that I will endure at the conference lightly. I take the wake up calls and meetings prior to voting on the national issues, including voting for our national representative, seriously.
Please vote for Andrea E Dort for Delegate the NEA Convention.

Dale Konig

I am a lifelong union member and a strong supporter of collective bargaining. As a former fighter I understand the importance of a voice that represents the worker. Now, as a teacher, I am writing to step up to learn more about national issues facing this profession under attack. I will represent PCTA at the summer AFT in Pittsburg if needed.

Stephanie Quinn

I would be honored to represent you at the FEA delegate assembly in October. As you know, public education is under attack in our state. This assembly helps plan how to protect our schools and therefore, our students. I would love to be your voice in such important work.

Jennifer Marshall

I would like to take a more active role in the union. I know how important it that teachers work together to support public education.

Phyllis Sciara

The Hospital Homebound/ Teleschool program is unique in that it encompasses grades k – 12 and covers courses from (Something) and Advanced Placement. As such information pertaining to FEA and other educational conferences affect all teachers and students that we serve.
