Nelly A. Henjes, President, Pinellas Education Support Professionals Association (2009) is currently in her 4th term. She is a member of the FEA (Florida Education Association) Governance Board, Goals & Budget Committee, ESP (Education Support Professionals) Program Policy Council, Vice Chair of the Minority Affairs Committee, as well as NCESP (National Council of Education Support Professionals) and NEA (National Education Association) Board of Directors. 

Alongside her six siblings, Nelly grew up attending public schools in Puerto Rico. She has been married to her husband Andy for 33 years and has two sons & four grandchildren. Nelly’s passion for advocating for our veteran/military families is near and dear to her heart. 

For Nelly, being PESPA President is an honor and pleasure to be a fierce advocate for better working conditions and salaries for her members.

SECRETARY - Cheryl Cunningham, Data Management Technician

Cheryl has been an active member of PESPA for over 20 years. She is the current Executive Board Secretary, certified CPR/First Aid instructor, and has served on many committees.  

Cheryl is currently working at a DMT (Data Management Technician) at Sexton Elementary. Prior to this, she was an MBA (Medical Behavior Assistant) within Pinellas County Schools for 23 years. She is a mom to 2 amazing kids; one is a Marine Veteran and Cheryl is known as Yaya to her perfect Granddaughter.

Lydia is an ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Paraprofessional at Tyrone Middle School. She believes being a member of PESPA is important because we need to build worker power through union organizing to get the respect and dignity that we deserve.
